A variety of game is available to hunt throughout Sanilac County. A diverse environment, including swamps and stands of hardwoods, provide habitat for squirrels, turkeys and deer. Thick, brushy fencerows hide rabbits and pheasants. Harvested crops of corn and wheat attract waterfowl during the fall migration.

Public land is available for hunting. Maps for the Minden City State Game Area and Sanilac State Game Area can be obtained by contacting the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. These areas have a reputation for producing an abundance of game and regularly are represented on the local buck poles.
